Progressive Youth Association on Mental Health (PYAMH)

PYAMH is an organized core group of students from different Colleges and Universities in Baguio City and Benguet Province. The group serves as PMHA’s partner in the promotion of mental health in the members’ families, schools and communities.  Specifically, it aims to introduce PMHA, its mission and vision to school organizations, to establish strong linkages with the selected organizations, to train and mobilize the school’s organizations in the promotion of sound mind not only for students but for the general public.

This is a one-day seminar workshop focusing on self-awareness, understanding mental health and mental illness, leadership and team building, and other mental health topics. The participants will form the PYAMH Executive Committee and is responsible in the planning and implementation of the group’s activities for the academic year.

Both events are annual gatherings of PYAMH members from various schools and universities where they socialize and welcome new PYAMH Executive Committee officers and members for the new academic year.

The members of the core group or representative from the different schools meet every first Sunday of the month to plan and evaluate activities for the PYAMH.

This is an annual activity that promotes awareness of mental health through different competitions, such as On-the-Spot Poster Making, On-the-Spot Essay Writing, Song Writing, Spoken Poetry, and Mental Health Quiz Bee.

“Malaya”, which means “free” in Filipino, symbolizes the activity’s main goal of liberating the youth from various mental health related issues and stigma This is done twice per school year as a way of updating and imparting new knowledge on trending issues faced by the youth in this modern time. The topics are chosen through the collaboration of PYAMH EXECOM and PMHA CCI.

This is the initial part of the “Pagkamangan” program. Mental health and wellness-related activities are conducted by the PYAMH officers and PMHA staffs, with the inclusion of admission fees in order to gather funds for the second part of the program. It is open to members and non-members.

This is the core part of the program, conducted in a selected barangay or school community. Beforehand, the PYAMH officers and PMHA staff tally the funds collected and canvass for possible beneficiaries who are in need of assistance but are experiencing difficulty accessing funds for their community’s development.

This is an annual celebration where the PYAMH members meet, socialize, and celebrate the Christmas season.

Every year, PYAMH pays tribute to the graduating members of the PYAMH Executive Committee (EXECOMM) who have actively participated in the planning and implementation of activities for the realization of the objectives of the organization. Additionally, it is an opportunity for PMHA CCI to express gratitude and appreciation to the members for their unwavering support to the Association’s advocacy.
